Two catheters are placed adjacent to the pudendal nerve branches under nerve-stimulation guidance during the procedure, then tunnelled to an exit point at the hip. A programmable pump, carried in an over-the-shoulder bag, delivers continuous local anaesthetic for up to seven days. Within physician-set limits, the patient can self-administer an additional bolus at set intervals.
Performed during the haemorrhoidectomy procedure.
During surgery
Insulated-electrode introducer locates the pudendal nerve branches under nerve stimulation.
An infusion catheter is placed adjacent to the nerve on each side.
Slim trocars tunnel the catheters to an exit site proximal to the hip, where they are held in place by a strain-relief device.
After surgery
Pump programmed per IFU and worn by the patient for up to seven days. Catheters and pump are removed non-surgically in the surgeon's rooms.
